A San Leandro man was shot on Thornton Street by two men who apparently crashed the party he was attending, police said.
Gunshots were reported on the 900 block of Thornton shortly before 11:45 p.m. on Saturday.
Officers responding to the scene found multiple shell casings in the middle of the street and a party in progress at a home on the block, said Lt. Jeff Tudor.
However, those attending the party were vague about the shooting and uncooperative with police.
Around 11:48 p.m., police received a call from Kaiser Hayward reporting that a gunshot victim had arrived at the emergency room.
The victim, a 24-year-old San Leandro man, had a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his ankle and minor grazing wounds to his legs, Tudor said.
The victim and his girlfriend, who was also at the hospital, provided only limited information on the shooting.
The suspects, described only as two Hispanic males in their 20s, wearing blue jeans and t-shirts, appear to have showed up at the party uninvited and shot the victim as he sat in a vehicle on the street, Tudor said.
The motive remains unknown.
"The shooting occurred in a quiet residential neighborhood, so we're hoping somebody will come forward with any information on this senseless act of violence," Tudor said.
