San Leandro Man Killed In Fire Is Identified

Dennis Rosucci, 65, perished after a fire destroyed his home on Neptune Drive. These photos show the devastation caused by the blaze.

The Alameda County Coroner's Office has identified the San Leandro man who died Wednesday as a result of injuries sustained during the blaze that destroyed his home at 13115 Neptune Drive.

Dennis Rosucci, 65, was found alive in his bed and was taken to the hospital, where he died.

No cause of death was released. How the fire started remains under investigation.

Former Mayor Tony Santos got to know Rosucci through their work together on a committee to monitor noise at Oakland Airport.

"He was a reclusive guy," Santos said.

Santos said when they met in the late 1990s Rosucci was a day trader.

After the stock market crashed he took another job, Santos said. But the former mayor thinks Rosucci got back into day trading over the last year or so, because he emailed him with stock tips.

Santos said Rosucci was a Navy veteran from the late 1960s.

The one-bedroom home which Rosucci had rented for well over a decade was gutted by the fire that claimed his life, as these pictures show.

Note to Tom Abate, photographer and the San Leandro Patch: I think these photos are too private for the public to look at. I wish I hadn't seen this man's scorched private bedroom, his private things propped up among the blackened walls , the ashes left of his life. Would he or his family have wanted us all to see a visual record of his last moments? I wish you had shown a picture of him that he would have wanted seen...either of himself in some good times of his life or of his home when it was still in tact. I find these photos distasteful and sensationalistic.

Leslie is absoutely correct. These photos are HIGHLY inappropriate! Afterall, someone suffered deadly injuries there! San Leandro Patch, by posting these photos, has demonstrated a complete lack of sensitivity to the people of this area. Are your standards really so low?

And you think that plunking down a very low income housing project in the middle of cheap housing inRead More San Leandro is more like Castro Valley? or more like West/East Oakland. It's more like the latter. Can't wait for the drive-by shootings and muggings to ratchet up when we thrown away $9M in tax dollars on building a new downtown SL BART ghetto.

It is unfortunate the Bridge has been unable to stop all crime in Oakland. Sadly, that lesson willRead More probably apply to San Leandro too.

What brand is the pastry cutter?

It's slightly used but I don't remember where I bought it from. I don't see any brand name on it. IRead More just priced it based on the lowest one available on Amazon. If you're interested, make me an offer. Maybe we can agree on it. Thanks for your inquiry.

Leah, do you have the authorization from Disney for the use of the copyrighted Dumbo character youRead More use for your blog? I thought that the policy of Patch was to deny access to non-authorized materials such as this.
