San Leandro Man Arrested Following Pursuit

Police say Jason Stern drove toward officers during the pursuit.

A man was arrested following a vehicle pursuit Thursday night in San Leandro, police said.

Around 10:40 p.m. Thursday, a San Leandro police officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the 500 block of Marina Boulevard near Alvarado Street. The driver of the suspect vehicle, later identified as 33-year-old San Leandro resident Jason Stern, failed to stop and led officers on a pursuit that lasted for a mile or two, police said.

During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle struck a patrol vehicle as well as other vehicles that were parked in the area, according to police. Stern drove towards police officers during the pursuit but no officers were injured.

The suspect then attempted to abandon his vehicle and flee from police, but was apprehended. Stern was arrested and booked into county jail for felony evading and for ramming a patrol vehicle, police said.
