Robber Escapes After Robbing US Bank

San Leandro Police Department officers responded to a bank robbery that had occurred at the US Bank located at 1585 E. 14th Street on Monday around 4:30 p.m.

When they arrived, bank employees reported that a white male in his mid-20’s to early 30’s, who was casually dressed, wearing a baseball hat, entered the bank, approached a teller window, and proceeded to rob the bank.

The unarmed suspect presented the teller with a note demanding money. There was no mention of the suspect being armed with any type of weapon, nor was one simulated or seen. The teller complied with the demand note and gave the robber an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect fled the bank and was last seen running from the area. 

Detectives are currently working with US Bank personnel and checking the neighborhood for surveillance video, hoping to develop leads and to identify the suspect. They will also work with the FBI and other Bay Area law enforcement agencies in an attempt to determine whether or not this suspect has committed any other bank robberies or other crimes in the area.

Lt. Robert McManus said that the San Leandro Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying this suspect. If anyone has information regarding today’s bank robbery or the identity of the suspect, please call them at (510) 577-2740.
