Just before 5 p.m., San Leandro police arrested five protesters who were engaging in civil disobedience, according to Beth Trimarco, one of the protest organizers.

She said a "full crowd" was in the parking lot following the arrests. The protest is part of a national movement at 1,500 Walmart locations across the country demanding higher pay for workers -- many of whom had to work during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Police also arrested protesters in Roseville and Southern California, according to the San Francisco Chronicle

San Leandro police were not immediately available to provide additional details.
