San Leandro police have released additional details about an alarming incident that occurred Tuesday at Jefferson Elementary School when an 18-year-old man apparently grabbed a seven-year-old student outside a bathroom.
Police said the incident occurred at about 1:55 pm on March 19, when a seven year old boy at Jefferson Elementary School reported being grabbed from behind.
SLPD has released this description of the alleged perpetrator: a dark complected man about 18 years old, wearing a white t-shirt, black jeans and black shoes.
Police say the student bit the man's hand and ran to his classroom. They say the assault occurred outside a bathroom inside the school building.
The alleged perpetrator was last seen by the student walking away from the scene down the school hallway.
The San Leandro Police Department was contacted on Friday and has assigned detectives to investigate the case.
“We are asking for anybody to come forward with information regarding this disturbing incident,” said police Lt. Jeff Tudor.
