San Leandro police cordoned off the area around Castro Street from San Leandro Boulevard to Alvarado Street for about two hours Thursday afternoon while they chased a group of teens at least one of whom allegedly had a gun.
No shots were fired.
According to Lt. Jeff Tudor, the incident began about 3 pm when a 911 caller reported a man with a gun at the corner of Estabrook and San Leandro Boulevard.
Responding officers found a group of about half-a-dozen teens who seemed to be having an argument, Tudor said.
The teens immediately scattered in all directions, prompting police to throw a net around the neighborhood and institute a search.
Tudor said a couple of juveniles were caught and put in custody for resisting arrest.
Police also recovered a loaded handgun from the general area where one of the suspects fled.
The cordon was lifted about 5 pm.
