Police Blotter: Burglaries, Batteries And 62 Arrests Last Week

No assaults reported and only four robberies after a dozen the prior week.

 

A whopping 62 arrests were made last week. In all, 22 cases of battery, four robberies and 28 burglaries were reported from Sunday April 1st to Saturday April 8th, according to an analysis of the police department’s daily activity log.

No assaults were reported.

The in Oakland dominated last week's news. Among the victims was of San Leandro.

In other notable crime news, a in Sacramento Friday.  Suspect Jeremy Morton, 22, was nabbed during a traffic stop for allegedly robbing banks in Concord, Livermore and the Citibank in San Leandro.

Here is a day by day summary of crime reports during the past week. Click the addresses in bold to be taken to a map of the crime scene.

Sunday, April 1st

9 arrests were made.  Three battery cases, 1 auto and two residential burglaries were reported. 

At 12:14 a.m. police were called to respond to the scene of an alleged battery on the corner of Mitchell and Dutton Avenue.  A report was filed.  No arrest was made.

 Police arrested a suspect for vandalism on the 700 block of Lewelling Boulevard at 6:05 p.m.

Monday, April 2nd

Two robbery calls to police turned out to be false alarms.  Four battery cases, four residential and four auto burglaries were reported.  9 arrests were made. 

A battery was reported at 10:31 p.m.  on the 500 Block of Victoria Court.  An arrest was made, statements were recorded and evidence was collected.

Two suspects were arrested for driving under the influence.  Police responded to the scene of an accident  at 12:58 p.m. at the 300 block of Joaquin Avenue.   The driver was allegedly driving under the influence.  Police issued a citation, arrested the driver and filed a report.

Another driver was arrested for drunk driving later that evening at 7:11 p.m. on the corner of Callan Avenue and Huff Avenue

Tuesday, April 3rd

 9 arrests were made.  Again.  Four batteries, 3 robberies, 3 residential and 2 auto burglaries were reported.

A battery was reported on the 14800 block of E. 14th Street at 12:35 a.m.  a suspect was arrested and evidence was collected.

A disturbance was reported at 12:39 p.m. on the 2200 block of Bancroft Avenue.  Police made one arrest.

At 8:44 a.m. A home burglary was reported on the 14300 block of Washington Avenue.  Police collected evidence and filed a report.

Wednesday, April 4th

No reports of robberies today.  4 batteries, 3 residential and 2 auto burglaries were reported.

According to San Leandro Police, a suspect was allegedly brandishing a weapon around 1:34 a.m. on the 600 block of E. 14th Street.  Police collected evidence took the suspect into custody.

At 5:41 p.m. police were called to the scene of a battery on the corner of Marina Boulevard and Doolittle Drive.  A suspect was a arrested.

A home burglary was reported at 4:38 p.m. on the 15200 block of Hesperian Boulevard.  A police report was filed.

Thursday, April 5th

Only four arrests were made today.  One battery, two robberies, 6 residential and two auto burglaries were reported.

Police responded two burglaries of occupied homes  today.  At 8:08 p.m. a home on the 700 block of Portola  Drive was burglarized while the residents were home.  A K9 unit as dispatched and field interviews were conducted.

At 11:04 p.m. another burglary was reported on the 1400 block of Sayre Street, but the suspect was gone when police arrived.

Police were dispatched to the scene of a robbery at 5:17 p.m. on the 15200 block of Hesperian Boulevard.  An arrest was made, statements were recorded and evidence was collected.

Friday, April 6th

Police arrested 9 today.  Three batteries, one robbery, one auto and one home burglaries were reported. 

A burglary was reported on the 2600 block of Marineview Avenue at 6:54 p.m.  Police filed a report.

Police were dispatched to a reported disturbance on the 1000 block of 143rd Avenue at 9:01 p.m.  Police arrested a suspect, filed a report and collected evidence.

Saturday, April 7th

13, the highest number of arrests were made this week.  Three batteries, one auto and one residential burglaries were reported.

A battery suspect was arrested on the corner of San Leandro Boulevard and Peralta Avenue at 5:04 p.m.  Police also recorded witness statements.

The suspect was gone by the time police arrived to a reported burglary at 4:01 a.m.  at the corner of E. 14th and Georgia Way.  No arrest was made.
