The family called 911 and police units converged on the area. Based on a description provided by the jogger, officers located and detained the man a couple of blocks away on Estudillo Avenue, near Grand Avenue.

Police say the jogger positively identified the man, Alton Watson, as the person who had followed her home.

A records check showed that Watson was a registered sex offender on parole for committing a sexual assault.

He was arrested for annoying and molesting a child and for violating his parole.  The jogger was not physically harmed.

"Her actions may have prevented her from getting assaulted,” police Lt. Randall Brandt said in a statement.
