Police Arrest Mom With Infant For DUI

One year old child of Central Valley woman is taken into protective custody.

A 30-year-old Central Valley woman had her one-year-old child taken into protective custody Thursday after San Leandro police arrested her for drunk driving at the .

Police say that at 2:05 am Thursday an officer saw Lynisha Jefferson park her 2011 Nissan Altima in the Quik Stop parking lot and discard a tequila bottle.

The officer thought Jefferson had been drinking.

She had a one year old baby with her in a car seat, police said.

Jefferson failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and child endangerment.

A small amount of marijuana was found in her car. 

Her child was taken into protective custody.

Police say Jefferson is from the Central Valley town of Escalon.
