Two officers converged on the house and found the resident struggling with the suspect in the backyard.

The officers attempted to handcuff the suspect, but police say he resisted and attempted to bite them.

More officers arrived but the suspect continued to fight and at one point kicked an officer in the head, causing a minor injury, police said.

Officers finally subdued the man after a struggle that lasted four and a half minutes and involved the use of non-lethal force.

The victim received superficial injuries to his hands, arms and face.

The suspect received minor injuries. He was arrested for burglary, battery on a peace officer, resisting arrest and booked into Santa Rita Jail after being treated for his injuries.

This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information should contact Detective Jeff Walton at 510-577-3234, or remain anonymous and text-a-tip to 847411.
