UPDATE: 79-Year-Old Man Hit By Car Near Bayfair Mall, Sustained Major Injuries

The man, from San Lorenzo, was taken to a hospital. Police are investigating the accident.

A 79-year-old San Lorenzo man was hit by a car while crossing the street near the entrance to Bayfair Mall on Wednesday morning, according to the . He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The incident happened shortly before 11 a.m. at the corner of Fairmont Drive and Bayfair Way. The man was crossing Fairmont Drive in the crosswalk when a woman driving a blue 4-door Honda turned left out of Fairmont Square Shopping Center, striking the man, according to Lt. Jeff Tudor, a police department spokesperson.

The man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, Tudor said. Police were not releasing the man's name.

The windshield of the car was smashed in on the passenger side of the vehicle.  

No one has been arrested, police said, and no other injuries were reported.
