Oakland Man Arrested After Englander Pub Burglary

Police urge businesses to make sure surveillance equipment is working properly.

San Leandro Police arrested an Oakland man suspected of burglarizing The Englander Pub early Wednesday Morning.

Officers responded to an alarm at The Englander Pub, on Parrot Street Wednesday at 3:44 a.m. and found the business had been burglarized. Officers reviewed surveillance video and saw the suspect, later identified as Isaac Walker, 48, breaking in to the west door of the pub and then fleeing on a bicycle, according to a San Leandro Police press release.

At 4:16 a.m. police respond to a second alarm at Los Pericos Market, 375 E 14th Street, however officers found the building untouched. Walker was stopped nearby by a patrol sergeant who recognized him from a previous burglary arrest. Walker, who is on parole for burglary, was identified from the surveillance video as the same person who broke into the Englander Pub. He was arrested for burglary.

San Leandro Police spokesman Lt. Jeff Tudor said good police work and excellent technology worked together to arrest Walker.

"This case should serve as a reminder for local businesses to make sure that their surveillance equipment is working properly," Tudor said.
