Neighbor Helps Police Bust Teen Burglary Suspects

A prompt call and a quick response nets two San Leandro and two Oakland residents.

Sunday afternoon, a resident noticed several teens sneaking into her neighbor's backyard on the 800 block of Arthur Avenue near Virginia Street.

She immediately phoned the San Leandro police, who arrived in time detain the four youths. Two were from San Leandro and the other two from Oakland.

The resident soon returned and confirmed that the home had been burgled. Police say they recovered stolen property from the suspects and returned it to the owner.

“This is a perfect example of our community being alert and working with our police department," said Lieutenant Randall Brandt. "If the resident had ignored her instincts and hesitated to call, we might never have caught the suspects.”
