UPDATE: Police Confirm Shooting Victim Was Fremont Resident Kenneth Seets

Family member says Seets was victim in Saturday afternoon's fatal shooting.

Updated Jan. 23: BART officials have confirmed that the man shot and killed at the Bayfair BART station in San Leandro on Saturday afternoon was 50-year-old Fremont resident Kenneth Lee Seets.

Family members posted on Patch Monday that Kenneth Lee Seets was shot along with a woman in the bus-loading zone of the BART station at about 12:20 p.m.

The second victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police arrested one potential suspect in the shooting but said on Sunday that police were seeking three additional suspects. Police have not identified any of the suspects.

According to his Facebook page,  Kenneth Seets was from Georgia and worked as a delivery person for a Hayward plastics plant from 1993 to 1996. The page hadn't appeared to have been updated during the past two years.

According to news reports, the man who was killed may have been hit by gunfire intended for someone else.

Commenters on Patch described Seets, 50, as "very loving," and the "last person one would think this could happen to."

What a tragedy. And how many people assumed initially this man was a gang member? He was just like anyone else, getting up on a Saturday to take care of things and got caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. How many of us take going about our business for granted? How would our families feel if we were shot and someone assumed we must be gang members and deserved it? My heart aches for this gentleman's family and for all of us. This is such a sad commentary on the state of our urban societies.

And you think that plunking down a very low income housing project in the middle of cheap housing inRead More San Leandro is more like Castro Valley? or more like West/East Oakland. It's more like the latter. Can't wait for the drive-by shootings and muggings to ratchet up when we thrown away $9M in tax dollars on building a new downtown SL BART ghetto.

It is unfortunate the Bridge has been unable to stop all crime in Oakland. Sadly, that lesson willRead More probably apply to San Leandro too.

What brand is the pastry cutter?
Rowena Peñalba June 18, 2013 at 11:27 pm
It's slightly used but I don't remember where I bought it from. I don't see any brand name on it. IRead More just priced it based on the lowest one available on Amazon. If you're interested, make me an offer. Maybe we can agree on it. Thanks for your inquiry.

Leah, do you have the authorization from Disney for the use of the copyrighted Dumbo character youRead More use for your blog? I thought that the policy of Patch was to deny access to non-authorized materials such as this.
