Man Charged After Standoff with Police
The suspect surrendered to police at a Calgary Avenue apartment Monday after a two-hour standoff.
San Leandro police arrested a man Monday afternoon after a two-hour standoff during which he refused to surrender to police, Lt. Jeff Tudor said.
The man was charged by the Alameda County District Attorney's office Wednesday after officers conducted a search of the apartment and found about a pound of marijuana and spent ammunition, Tudor said.
Officers responded shortly after 1 p.m. to a Calgary Street apartment building on Monday after reports of two gunshots fired in the area. The complex is located at the corner of Calgary Street and Quebec Avenue, behind the .

When a man inside a second-floor apartment refused to communicate with officers despite their repeated attempts, additional resources were called in, Tudor said.
"We were fortunate that several SWAT team members and hostage negotiators responded quickly to assist and set up resources," Tudor said.

No one was injured in the incident. Tudor said the man was upset after getting into an argument with his girlfriend.
