Juvenile Robbery Suspects Captured

An armed robbery was reported in the 400 block of Central Avenue at 8:26 p.m. on Monday, according to a press release.

The victim was walking when two male suspects approached him.

One of the suspects pointed a gun at the victim and demanded all of his belongings. The victim gave the suspects several personal items.

As San Leandro police officers arrived in the area, one officer stopped three male subjects about a block away.

According to police, the officer determined the suspects were in possession of the victim’s stolen belongings.

The victim positively identified the suspects. They were arrested and the victim recovered all of his belongings.

One suspect was 17-years-old and the other was 14-years-old.

The gun was recovered and determined to be an “air soft” pellet type gun.

"If not for the officer's quick observation, the suspects may have escaped capture,” said Lt. Mike Sobek. “We are happy no one was injured in this incident and our robbery detectives will continue this investigation to see if there are any similar incidents that could be related to these suspects."
