Hayward Murder Suspect is Known to Frequent San Leandro

Michael L. Soutar, 26, is wanted in connection to the murder of Ezekiel Taylor in Hayward Saturday night.

 An arrest warrant has been issued for the suspect in the shooting death of a 26-year-old man in a residential neighborhood in Hayward on Saturday night, police said today.

Police are seeking Michael L. Soutar, 26, for the murder of Ezekiel Taylor. They consider him armed and dangerous because they have not recovered the gun used in the shooting, which happened in the driveway of a home on Franklin Avenue between Culp Avenue and Harder Road shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Taylor was taken to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley after the shooting but died of his injuries at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Hayward police said Soutar frequents Hayward, San Leandro and Oakland, and described him as 5 feet 9 inches tall and about 175 pounds, with long brown hair and brown eyes.

They said he has a tattoo with the word "East" on his right wrist and a tattoo with the word "Bay" on his left wrist.

Police said they have probable cause to arrest Soutar but didn't say why.

Hayward police asked anyone who spots Soutar to call them at (510) 293-7000 or contact their local police department.
