A man was robbed Monday afternoon when two men, one armed with a gun, approached him in the parking lot of an apartment complex on the 200 block of Castro Street and demanded his gold chain.
The incident occurred about 4 pm. According to San Leandro police, one of the men ripped the chain from the victim's neck and both suspects fled on foot towards Castro Street.
The police revealed sketchy descriptions of the suspects as two Hispanic men, one thin and the other huskier. Both are supposed to be about 5 feet 7 inches tall. The heavier suspect reportedly brandished the gun.
Lt. Randall Brandt said jewelry robberies were common and advised people to hide their valuables.
