Firefighters Extinguish Brush Fire

Emergency crews on Thursday responded to a brush fire near the San Leandro railroad tracks.

Firefighters have contained a brush fire that burned near the railroad tracks in San Leandro Thursday afternoon, an Alameda County fire spokeswoman said.

The fire was reported near Williams Street at 2:06 p.m., fire spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.

No railroad equipment or structures were damaged by the blaze, which burned a small patch of vegetation near the tracks, Knowles said.

As of 3 p.m., the fire had been contained but crews were still at the scene.
