Update: Woman Hospitalized, Dog Rescued In San Leandro Blaze

Bay City News -- A dog was rescued in a one-alarm San Leandro kitchen fire Friday afternoon, according to the Alameda County Fire Department.

The fire at 939 Harlan St. was reported shortly after 3:30 p.m., according to fire department spokeswoman Aisha Knowles.

The fire, which started on the stovetop in the kitchen, damaged kitchen cabinets but was put out in about 10 minutes, Knowles said.

One dog was rescued, and a woman was taken to a hospital as a precaution for a medical condition, Knowles said.

It is unclear whether the woman's health issues were related to the fire, Knowles said.
