Cursing Leads To Stabbing In San Leandro Friday Night

A 24-year-old San Leandro resident is in custody for cursing out an older man and getting into a fight during which he allegedly pulled a knife. Victim's hand was wounded.

 

A San Leandro man allegedly stabbed another man after first cursing him out during a confrontation on the 2000 block of Alvarado Street on Friday night.

In custody is Anthony Nunes, 24, who is alleged to have stabbed his 42-year-old victim in an incident that occurred at approximately 9:43 pm.

According to police, Nunes began yelling profanities at the victim while the victim was socializing with some friends on Alvarado Street.

Police say the victim confronted the suspect and a fight broke out.

During the fight, police say the suspect pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the victim in the right hand.

The victim, who has not been named, was taken to a local hospital. 

After stabbing the victim, police say Nunes was physically restrained by an onlooker until police arrived and took him into custody.

Nunes was also taken to a local hospital for injuries sustained during the fight. After being treated, he was jailed on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. 

Police say the knife used in the assault was recovered at the scene.
