Cops, Crime and Coffee

San Leandro Police will begin meeting monthly with members of the public to discuss crime and other community matters.

San Leandro Police has scheduled the department’s first “Coffee with the Cops” meeting with the public.

Police Chief and other officers will be at on Sept. 13 to discuss neigborhood crime trends, provide crime prevention tips and answer questions from citizens.

“It’s basically to sit down with the community members in certain neighborhoods and come down to meet the officers who patrol their neighborhoods,” said spokesman Jeff Tudor. “It’s a very informal setting to discuss crime or quality of life issues or to answer to any other questions citizens may have.”

Tudor said that increasing community outreach is a goal of Spagnoli’s.

The hour-long meeting starts at 8 a.m. Main Street Bagels is located at 1099 MacArthur Blvd.

Law enforcement agencies in Albany, Antioch, San Ramon, and Napa County hold similar meetings in their communities.

“We encourage people to come out and get involved in your neighborhood,” Tudor said
