An alert citizen’s report of a residential burglary helped lead to and arrest and the recovery of a stolen vehicle on Wednesday.

A resident on the 1900 block of Dayton Avenue heard a loud noise followed by an alarm sounding and reported the suspicious activity to the San Leandro dispatch center. Officers quickly responded; and the citizen was able to witness the burglars leaving the area and provided officers with a detailed description of them and their getaway vehicle.

Officers located the vehicle and attempted to stop it. The two suspects lead offices on a brief pursuit. Maji Mosley, a 20-year-old male, who lives in unincorporated San Leandro, was caught. The second suspect avoided capture.

“Citizens continue to help us combat crime. This is another example of an alert citizen being a great witness and not hesitating to call us,” said Lt. Randall Brandt. “If it wasn’t for our communities support this suspect would not have been arrested.”
