CHP Airplane Helps Catch San Leandro Motorcyclist Performing 'Wheelies' & Driving at High Speeds

Corey McDonah was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving

A San Leandro man was arrested after California Highway Patrol officers say he was seen on eastbound on I-580, east of the Macarthur Maze, driving between 100 to 120 miles per hour yesterday afternoon.

Around 3:40 p.m., the CHP's aircraft, known as "Air-37," followed the rider as he performed "wheelies and other stunts" while driving on the highway, according to a Nixle Alert released by CHP.

Officials say the rider, later identified as Corey McDonah, eventually drove to a home in San Leandro where he was soon arrested by CHP officers and booked into jail on suspicion of reckless driving.

CHP asks anyone who witnesses a vehicle driving recklessly to call 911.
