After her San Leandro house was robbed, the victim watched for the items to be sold online and, when she saw them advertised, alerted police who recovered the goods.

(Editor's note: this story has been changed to make clear that the suspect was arrested for possession of stolen goods not burglary.)

After the July 3rd break in, the victim reasoned that her stolen computer and jewelry might be sold on Craigslist.

So she began monitoring the online service and, when she spotted items matching her stolen goods, she informed the San Leandro Police Department.

Detectives scheduled an appointment to view the items.  When the seller confirmed possession of the stolen property he was taken into custody for posession of stolen goods.

Police say the victim provided crucial information that led to an arrest.

"Any initial research a victim can do without putting themselves at risk increases the likelihood of solving crimes," police said in a press release.
