Be On The Lookout For Stolen Blue Bike

Snatched from BART, the thief is riding it around town.

A few weeks ago my husband's beloved road bike was stolen from BART, despite being securely locked twice. It wasn't an expensive bike; it's an old blue racing bike, probably late-70s, with an extra large frame. He figured that no one would ever want it, being in such bad shape! He was heartbroken to lose it, he's had it for over a decade now.

Well, last night we were walking home from BART and we saw it go by. A young, heavyset man was riding it, in a black sweatshirt and pants. He rode down Parrot Street at about 5:50 pm, then turned right on San Leandro Boulevard. We ran after him thinking he was going to BART, but I think he went north instead.

We're not sure what to do. At the time my husband reported the theft, first to BART police; when he called San Leandro police they said he couldn't double-report it.

We just really want the bike back.

We know the bike is still in the area and hasn't even been painted.

If you think you see it, please leave a comment.
