Bay Fair BART Shut Down Briefly Due To Report Of Armed Person

Bay City News --
The Bay Fair BART station in San Leandro was briefly shut down
Saturday afternoon as police responded to a report of a possibly armed suspect, a
BART police lieutenant said.

BART police were called around 1:35 p.m. to search for the suspect, who was reportedly "possibly armed with a firearm" at the Bay Fair station at 15242 Hesperian Blvd., according to Lt. Paul Kwon.

Police shut down the station for about 12 minutes as they conducted a search, he said.

Officers were unable to locate anyone matching the suspect description and reopened the station around 1:50 p.m.

The police activity caused 10-minute delays on the Fremont line that have since lifted, according to BART personnel.
