Bay Area Bank Robbery Suspect Indicted

Deron Williams, 35, is suspected of robbing close to a dozen Bay Area banks while wearing a disguise that made him look like an elderly white man.

An African-American man who was disguised as an elderly white man during was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury.

The San Francisco Chronicle Reports that Deron Williams, 35, wore a mask to rob the banks of an estimated $67,000.

During most of the holdups, from October to March, Williams, who has homes in Oakland and Hayward, was armed with a gun. He robbed banks in the following cities: San Leandro, Union City, Fremont, Albany, Capitola, Campbell, Pleasant Hill, Millbrae, Brentwood and Belmont.

After a heist at the on Oct. 5, San Leandro Police were able to obtain DNA evidence linking Williams to the robberies.
