Police officers responded to a bank robbery at Bank of the West, located on 1601 Washington Avenue, at approximately 9:20 a.m. on Thursday.

The suspect entered the bank and passed a note demanding money. The bank cooperated and the suspect fled in an unknown direction, according to a statement released by the San Leandro Police Department.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’10” tall with a heavy build. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. The hood was up, partially covering his face.

“We are requesting community assistance to identify this suspect,” said Lt. Randall Brandt. “If you recognize the suspect, do not try to make contact with him. Please report your observations to us immediately. The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.”

This is the fifth bank robbery in three weeks.
