Attempted Bank Robber Arrested

Oakland man who got out of prison 3 months ago on federal bank robbery charges is suspected of two heists in San Leandro.

Police have arrested a man who allegedly tried to rob the Fremont Bank on East 14th Street Monday morning, after he was caught nearby still holding a robbery note and the wig he supposedly wore as a disguise.

Police say Booker Ross, 47, of Oakland, is also suspected of robbing the Citibank at 1300 East 14th Street in May, while wearing a wig and using a note to announce his intent.

Police say the Citibank robber got away with an undisclosed amount of cash but the culprit in Monday's Fremont bank holdup fled without getting any money, apparently fearing that the police had been alerted, according to a news release.

The suspect in Monday's attempted heist is seen in a bank surveillance video wearing a white shirt and what appears to be a dark colored wig.
