'Chrome Revolver Bandit' Suspected In San Mateo Crime May Have Struck in San Leandro

A 34-year-old Oakland man has been arrested in what Bay Area police think may have been a wide-ranging crime spree.

The San Mateo Police Department has announced the arrest of 34-year-old Oakland resident Ricky Sanders who, authorities think, may have committed more than 30 robberies in at least a dozen Bay Area communities, including San Leandro.

Sanders was arrested Nov. 7 in Alameda County, where he remains in custody according to a statement released Monday night by San Mateo police.

They think the Oakland man is responsible for that injured a store clerk in San Mateo.

When authorities in San Mateo shared details of that crime with other local police agencies, they learned the robbery in their city matched characteristics of what law enforcement officials have called the "Chrome Revolver Bandit" series.

The Task Force investigating these robberies includes San Mateo, San Leandro, Daly City, Colma, Redwood City, Pacifica, San Bruno, Fremont, Mountain View, San Jose and San Francisco.

Sanders remain in custody as the investigation continues.
