Alert Citizen's Report of Suspicious Activity Leads to Arrest of Suspected Car Thief

Kentreal Irving, 25, of Oakland was arrested on suspicion of auto theft.

A suspected car thief was arrested in San Leandro Wednesday after a woman reported suspicious activity to officers, police said.
 
Officers responded around 4 p.m. to the area of Begier and Saint Mary's avenues after a woman reported seeing two vehicles she did not recognize, police said. Police said the suspect in one of the vehicles drove off, and the driver of the second vehicle got out and ran away on foot.
 
Police determined the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Oakland. The suspect, later identified as Kentreal Irving, 25, of Oakland, was located in an ensuing search and was taken into custody. Irving was arrested on suspicion of auto theft.
