$15,000 Worth of Damage in San Leandro Cottage Fire

No one was injured during the fire.

A fire at a small cottage in San Leandro Saturday night caused an estimated $15,000 in damage, an Alameda County fire battalion chief said.

The one-alarm fire was reported at 8:31 p.m. at a roughly 600-square-foot cottage in the 1300 block of 147th Avenue, fire Battalion Chief Ron Figuera said.

Firefighters responded and extinguished the fire within about 10 minutes, containing it mostly to the back room of the building, Figuera said.

No one was home at the time of the blaze and no one was injured while fighting the fire, he said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
