14 San Leandro Businesses Cited for Selling Tobacco to a Minor

Police used decoys to target 55 businesses.

A tobacco decoy operation in San Leandro resulted in 14 businesses receiving citations Thursday afternoon, police said.
Authorities conducted an undercover sting operation targeting dozens of retail businesses throughout the city on Thursday afternoon, according to police. A minor decoy went into each of the businesses attempting to buy tobacco.

Of the 55 businesses targeted, 14 sold tobacco products to the decoys. Police said the businesses received citations for the violations.
Periodic sting operations will be conducted for tobacco, alcohol and spray paint to ensure businesses are preventing minors to access the products, police said.
