I agree about the poor service at the late Portofino. Their menu, however, was not anything like Paradiso -- which is a terrific menu and restaurant all around. Portofino was not run professionally during its many fits and starts. And its food was not good. Dutton/Bancroft corner needs good eating places! We will patronize good restaurants if they will locate there: meaning - good food, dependable hours of operation as a start.

I agree with you Maxine. In all that time Portofino was open I could never tell, I'd drive by and wonder is it? The neighborhood needs something like the old Cornerstone Cafe. That was a great place to go on the weekends for breakfast! Variety, the neighborhood needs variety! Hopefully it doesn't end up being another taquiera, please........we have enough already in SL.

The neighborhood didn't support the Cornerstone Cafe, what makes you think something similar would now flourish? As for the Portofino site, I would give the site to Paradiso's owner rent free for a percentage of the gross. Seems to be the only restauranteur who understands what will survive in town.

Interesting, I ate at Cornerstone often, and then one day it was closed. I never heard what happened. I do agree with you about the owner of Paradiso, he knows what he's doing.
