President Barack Obama announced on Wednesday that 10,000 U.S. troops would be withdrawn from Afghanistan by the end of the year, and 33,000 by next summer.
"The tide of the war is receding," Obama said.
A few days ago, the U.S. Conference of Mayors approved a resolution calling on the government to redirect money spent on foreign wars to boosting the economy at home. It was the first time the Conference had taken a stand on foreign policy since the Vietnam War.
The war in Afghanistan costs U.S. taxpayers over $100 billion each year.
Do you have sons, daughters, spouses or friends fighting in Afghanistan? What do you think of Obama's announcement? What about his assessment of progress in U.S. war efforts?
