San Leandro Police arrest a 25-year-old Oakland man who allegedly snatched the device near downtown BART. Score another one for Steve Jobs?

It's almost like Steve Jobs was reaching from beyond the grave to swat petty criminals.

A man who allegedly snatched an iPhone near the downtown BART station was soon arrested in Oakland after San Leandro police used the "Find My iPhone App" to trace the stolen item.

According to police, at about 7 pm Tuesday a woman was walking near San Leandro Boulevard and Parrott Street when a man snatched her iPhone, jumped into a waiting car and sped off.

The victim told officers about the phone-finder app. It led detectives to 88th Avenue and D Street in Oakland, where they spotted and detained a suspect matching the victim's description.

The suspect, Adraine McFadden, 25, of Oakland, was later identified by the victim. He was arrested and the stolen iPhone was recovered from his person, police said.

This is not the first time SLPD has .

Oakland police recently made a drug and gun bust by following the iPhone's homing beacon to the home of a suspect who had alledgedly snatch the device and taken it home.
