San Leandro death notices: Dedicated mothers, volunteers, building inspector

Read about members of the San Leandro community who died recently.

Ernest Alves: Alves was a longtime Castro Valley resident who volunteered with his wife at Treatures Hospice Thrift Store in San Leandro. He died June 13 at age 77.

Margaret (Boyer) Beaver: Beaver was 96 when she died May 23. A native of Fresno, Beaver moved to San Leandro with her husband, David, after World War II. They raised their family here and she was a regular volunteer at her kids' events.

Ethel Boyd: Boyd, 74, died June 13. She and her husband, John, met in Germany before moving to San Leandro. They raised their family and lived here for 30 years.

Todd Bransen: Bransen died June 25 at age 52. He grew up in San Leandro and graduated from San Lorenzo High School in 1979. He worked as a building inspector and enjoyed sports, barbecuing, his family and animals. 

Cindy Brown: Brown, 56, died June 17. She was born in Castro Valley and grew up in San Leandro and San Lorenzo. She graduated from San Lorenzo High and Cal State East Bay before going on to serve in the LDS church and as a mother of five children.
