Pro Baseball Hopeful Eric Davidson Dies at 26

Eric Davidson died on Feb. 27 following a severe asthma attack.

On Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011 James Eric Davidson Jr. passed away from heart failure triggered by a severe asthma attack. He was 26 years old.

Eric was a long-time San Leandro resident who was a standout baseball player for Washington Manor Little League, as well as San Leandro High School. He went on to play baseball at Ohlone Junior College, City College of San Francisco and York College in Nebraska.

At San Leandro High School he helped the team to their first and only undefeated baseball season. 

He graduated in 2009 from York College with a bachelor's degree in general studies.

Recently he was invited to try out for the MLB team Atlanta Braves, where he had impressed the scouts with his hitting and athletic ability. He was being considered for the MLB draft in June. 

Eric was an only child, and is survived by his mom and dad, Debra and James Davidson.  He was a well-known and loved person in San Leandro, remembered most for his great smile, athletic prowess, and ability to get along with just about everyone.
