Kids Fly Into The Wild Blue Yonder For Free

The Young Eagles program at Hayward Airport pairs kids 8-17 with experienced aviators for free flights on several Saturdays throughout the year.

On Saturday (Aug. 25) parents and kids will gather in a hangar at the Hayward Airport for a chance to take a free flight as a passenger in a small plane.

The free excursion program, called the Young Eagles, is a gift that members of the Vintage Aircraft Association give to area kids ages 8 to 17.

Children who show an interest in flying can repeat the experience.

Thanks to school board member Mike Katz-Lacabe for passing on the tip.
