Help Clean Up San Leandro's Coast

Cleanup day on Sept. 15 is a chance to made a difference -- and get some fresh air.

The City of San Leandro’s Shoreline Cleanup Event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, September 15, along the San Leandro Shoreline.

In years past, as many as 500 volunteers have participated.

You can join the cleanup effort from one of two staging areas: the Monarch Bay Drive Bridge (at the end of Marina Park) and the Heron Bay entrance to the shoreline trail at the end of Lewelling Boulevard. (Note: The Heron Bay entrance is a drop off only site and no parking is available.)

Trash bags, recyclable bags, and gloves will be distributed to participants, and Alameda County Industries will donate dumpsters for debris disposal.

This year free reusable bags will be handed out to volunteers courtesy of the Alameda County Clean Water Program (while supplies last).

Water will be available in large containers. We are asking participants to bring their own reusable water bottle to fill at the site.

“Year after year, we’ve been impressed by how involved the San Leandro community has become in cleaning up the shoreline,” said Mayor Stephen Cassidy. “This is a great opportunity for families to come out together, enjoy the natural beauty of our shoreline and make a difference."

If you attended last year's cleanup, please share a picture or a story.
