Hayward Executive Airport throws open its gates Saturday for a free open house beginning at 10 am.
The airport is home base for many executive jets and a variety of police and traffic helicopters.
Among the attractions is a collection of vintage airplanes shown off by their owners, including World War I-era biplanes.
In addition to these free events on Saturday, the airport is being visited by a B-17, one of the legendary Flying Fortress of World War II.
The visiting aircraft, called the Aluminum Overcast, is one of the last B-17s still in operation (pictured above).
Flights are being offered for $450 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Check b17.org for more information. You can also view a photo gallery of the Aluminum Overcast in Hayward.
