How Did You Spend Your Saturday?

Lovely weather lured some of us out of doors. How about you?

Saturday was gorgeous. Sunny but not hot, with just enough breeze to make it brisk without being chilly.

It was perfect weather for the neighbors on Oakes Boulvevard east of Dutton to hold their annual block party.

How did you spend your Saturday? Leave a comment or upload a photo.

I spent most of my Saturday participating in a volunteer phone bank to support President Obama's re-election campaign. You can do it too. To find out about events near you, go to BarackObama.com and click on "Get Involved" and then on "Find Events." It's fun and a good way to be part of this historic campaign.

So is this what we can expect to get from the Patch now that their staffing has been further thinned? "What did you do" non-articles? How about if, instead, the Patch writes an article on where Council Candidate Benny Lee stands on the issues. He's been a huge opponent of medical marijuana facilities, speaking against them as recently as July (see http://sanleandrotalk.voxpublica.org/2012/09/06/benny-lee-speaks-on-medical-marijuana/). But since hear learned that that may cost him the Democratic Party endorsement, he's found religion and says he supports them. Does he really? And how about the wind turbine issue? On the San Leandro Times he has said he wouldn't offer his opinion about them, he's just "informing" the members. And yet he's also been very loud and very public about his opposition of the project (it may cause his wife migraines). And yes, after Benny, why not do some fact-checking on the other candidates? Well, I guess if that's too much, you can ask /them/ what they did last Saturday.

Nice picture of the Oakes Boulevard block party, Tom. It's great when neighbors can get together for these sorts of events that help forge friendships.
