Families Leave Davis Street With More Than Just Food, Toys

Davis Street Family Resource Center held their 22nd annual Holiday Toy and Food Distribution on Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Nearly 1,000 income-eligible families from San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Castro Valley, Ashland and Cherryland picked up boxes of food and bags of toys for the holidays. Cars started lining up at 7:30 a.m.

Many donations of food and toys came from individuals and a list of over 100 businesses. Some of Davis Street’s biggest donors include Castro Valley California Highway Patrol, Wells Fargo Bank (1298 E 14th Street), Abbott Diabetes Care in Alameda, San Leandro Unified School District and Alameda County Fire Department.
