Community Corner

FESCO's 17th Annual Shelter Shuffle

Each year, FESCO assists more than 400 parents and their children with the services they need to regain their housing, increase their incomes, access healthcare other important community resources, and ensure that the children are thriving in their educational, physical, social, and emotional development. Based on each family's needs, we provide emergency shelter, and transitional and permanent housing, as they seek to end their homelessness. Helping homeless families achieve self-sufficiency and secure permanent housing has been the goal of Family Emergency Shelter Coalition (FESCO) since its founding in 1986. Our mission is community based and we hope you will join us at our 17th Annual Shelter Shuffle Walkathon on May 3, 2014.

The Shelter Shuffle Walkathon is FESCO's primary fundraising event of the year and our success depends on the participation of elected officials, funders, community groups and churches, and individuals, including those who walk, run, and shuffle-many with their dogs-around the paths at San Leandro's Marina Park. The beautiful view of the Bay, the camaraderie of the participants, and the after-party BBQ in the park's newly renovated picnic areas are just a few of the reasons why the Shelter Shuffle Walkathon has the reputation for being a terrifically fun event.
