19-Year-Old Killed in Dice Game at Elementary School Near San Leandro

A 19-year-old San Leandro man was fatally shot at an elementary school campus Wednesday night in what authorities say may have stemmed from a dice game for money. Deputies responded to a report of shots fired at Hillside Elementary School at 15980 Marcella St. at about 8:45 p.m. Arriving officers located the victim — identified as Trevion Foster — suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Eden Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Foster lived in the neighborhood and was attending Laney College. He was an athlete who once played on the San Lorenzo High School football team.

Motor Boat Burned on Cherry Street Last Night

Firefighters extinguished a blaze that destroyed a 14-foot motor boat in San Leandro Thursday night, according to an Alameda County Fire Department official. The fire was reported around 11:40 p.m. at 2374 Cherry St., near San Leandro and Marina boulevards, site of a storage facility for outdoor equipment, the fire official said. The fiberglass boat was destroyed in the blaze but there was no other property damage nor any injuries.

BART Releases Photo of Deadly Bay Fair Shooting Suspect

BART police are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred at the Bay Fair BART station on Jan. 19. Authorities released a photo of 18-year-old Jabrie Bennett on Friday, who BART police have identified as the primary suspect in the slaying. Bennett is considered to be armed and dangerous. He is described as being 5-foot-6 with a slim build, brown eyes and black hair. His hair is in dreadlocks in the photo released by authorities.
