A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle outside the San Leandro BART station on Thursday evening, agency officials said.
BART police received a call at about 5:45 p.m. Thursday that a pedestrian had been struck outside the station, located at 1401 San Leandro Blvd.
The pedestrian, a 63-year-old man, was taken to the hospital and was in "very critical" condition this morning, BART police spokeswoman Era Jenkins said.
The driver was also taken to the hospital but his injuries are not considered life-threatening, Jenkins said.
She said the collision remains under investigation, but it does not appear that alcohol was a factor.
