Thousands Without Power Overnight in San Leandro, Oakland, Berkeley

Gusty winds may have been the culprit.

Bay City News — Several hundred San Leandro homes were without power Tuesday night as part of a surge of outages affecting thousands of customers in parts of Oakland, Berkeley, San Leandro and Vallejo, a PG&E spokesman said Wednesday morning.

The largest outages in Berkeley and Oakland affected 2,080 customers in Berkeley and 2,480 in Oakland, spokesman JD Guidi said. Power was restored to most by 12:30 a.m.

As of 12:30 a.m., 340 were in the dark in San Leandro with no estimated time of restoration.

 The cause of the outages has not been determined, according to Guidi. However, gusty winds may have affected power lines.
