On a sadder note, church services were held last week for Martin Francis, San Leandro's . Burial services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 1051 Harder Road, Hayward.

Among last week's crime stories, readers paid most attention to a brief item on the arrest, near Bishop O'Dowd High School, of a suspect in a homicide that occurred in San Leandro.

The interest probably owed to the fact that at the the private Catholic school as well as at the nearby Barack Obama Academy.
